In Exodus 12-14, the children of Israel are leaving Egypt, they're being chased by Pharaoh and the Egyptian army. As they run for their lives, they're chased into a canyon. To the right and to the left are canyon walls too steep to climb. Behind them is a cloud of dust stirred up by an army who is hot on their heels. Ahead.....the Red Sea. The only option it offered was drowning. All around them were no good options. Everywhere they looked, the picture looked bleak. The children of Israel didn't understand why God would lead them to a dead-end. They got mad and blamed God and blamed Moses for getting them into this mess. What they didn't know was that the road that led to a dead-end was God's plan all along.
It's in these times that God does His greatest miracles. When we can't figure a way out, God has a plan. Like the Israelites, we can't fathom God parting the Red Sea right before our very eyes. Isaiah 55:8-9 says:
8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. 9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Notice how specific His language is. He doesn't say some of His thoughts or some of His ways, he says ALL of God's thoughts and ways are not ours. God knows our needs better than we do. All He wants us to do is to trust Him. Remember, when you're following God there is no such things as a dead-end. When you're following God, He only has blessings for the road ahead. -Morty
